About the job…

The CAD Designer, you will coordinate and execute technical activities on assigned projects using Autodesk Inventor software. Plan, schedule, conduct, coordinate and review drafting work; monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and Company standards; ensure effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.

This is an onsite position located in Broken Arrow, OK.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently produce accurate drawings, models, and assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering notes and sketches to resolve design-related issues.
  • General knowledge with industrial piping and design principles.
  • Requires working closely with other engineering disciplines, Project Management, customer representatives, suppliers, and shop personnel to assure that all aspects of the design are met.
  • Ensures incoming orders are compete and specified designs are feasible. Verify the scope of special requirements and design with sales personnel.
  • Communicates directly with project managers and sales on drawing approval submittal and status, timely GA revision, comment resolution, timely fabrication release, timely submittal to manufacturing, and the resolution of any shop design conflicts requiring clarification or revision.
  • Operates AutoCad Inventor 3D models including iLogic automation to create order specific GA (general arrangement) and detail component drawings.
  • Updates order tracking system(s) as specific tasks are completed.
  • Reviews customer approval drawing comments for change impacts.
  • Verifies bill of materials and advises purchasing on release to order materials (fab release).
  • Provides documentation necessary for product registration with regulatory agencies, for example, Canadian Registration Numbers (CRN). Works to ensure timely approval according to customer order schedules. Works with product engineering to clarify design questions by regulatory authorities.
  • Checks order documentation accuracy as produced by others within the department at various stages throughout the engineering process. 
  • Provides improvement feedback to the iLogic developer to ensure continual improvement and efficient design solutions for reduction of Engineering and/or Manufacturing cycle time.
  • Supports Manager with other tasks as needed.

  • Conducts himself/herself in a considerate, professional, cooperative and helpful manner toward fellow employees, customers, vendors and visitors.

What you know:

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, Design or Engineering Degree required, but equivalent industry experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years’ experience as CAD designer in a manufacturing environment required; air cooled heat exchanger industry experience preferred.
  • Experience in 3D modelling packages required, Autodesk Inventor preferred.
  • ASME Section VIII pressure vessel code and other related codes and standards of ANSI, ASTM, API preferred.
