About the job

As a Team Manager of Production, you will be responsible for Driving customer order execution, according to agreed plan and in line with four priorities: sustainability, quality, delivery and cost. First line manager. Coordinate between different processes and support functions Supervise employees engaged in the production process of air-cooled heat and wet surface exchangers. Monitor employee performance and coordinate workflow to ensure shop operates efficiently. Evenings and weekend work will be required on occasion.

This is an onsite position located in Broken Arrow, OK.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Set and follow up targets for Manufacturing in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.
  • Review production schedules with the Factory Planner and Project Managers and coordinate production set-up with Team Leaders. Meet shop goals and customer expectations. 
  • Operate as a team within the shop and other areas related to production (materials, scheduling, purchasing, etc.) to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement, leading 5S initiatives, performance and output of multiple manufacturing teams.
  • Oversees team member development and hiring, ensuring compliance with legal and equal opportunity standards in collaboration with HR. 
  • Together with Factory, Safety and Quality Managers develop new employee operational training plans specific to the new employee position and experience.
  • Delivers Team Member performance reviews, counseling / discipline, and makes recommendations for wage increases.
  • Assures compliance with Alfa Laval requirements including pertinent policies, procedures, work instructions, and other related process control documents.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and drives the analysis and identification of opportunities for improvement. Sets and follows up targets set for the teams, broken down from the factory level.
  • Works with the site EH&S team to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Works with Quality Assurance on customer claim resolution and drives process improvements so that future claims are prevented.
  • Defines and communicates work assignments to shop personnel Monitors progress of work and address issues as needed (ex. re-allocation of resources, alternate sequencing of jobs, resolution of operational/technical issues, etc.).
  • Assesses and communicates staffing, equipment, and outsourcing needs of the teams.
  • Monitors and takes action to eliminate waste and drive down manufacturing costs. Assures effective and efficient utilization of personnel and equipment (ex. Reduction of set-up and cycle times, etc.).
  • ‘Owner’ of team equipment including correct usage, and preventative maintenance.
  • Works with Maintenance department to ensure clear division of activities between operator maintenance and maintenance department preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Drives team performance through prioritization and hands-on development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Engages with Safety, Quality, Product, and Factory management to ensure these functional area requirements are included in departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • As owner secure the quality, via SOP audit dialogues, and execution of the SOPs.
  • Gives input to the development of the annual shop budget. Controls team expenses in order to meet approved budget.
  • Responsible for team area cleanliness and implementation of cleaning routines, 5S and holding team members accountable to this category.
  • Involved in new product development and give input to existing product development.
  • Interfaces with Sales Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling and other members of the Production team relative to planning and scheduling of work orders and cost estimation of product.
  • Ensures effective and frequent communication with shop personnel related to company and departmental developments.
  • Conducts daily ALPS board meetings (Alfa Laval Performance System) to ensure employee management communications and continuous improvements.
  • Ensures positive work environment and attitude among shop employees; fosters an attitude of responsibility and ownership.
  • Assists Unit Manager with other tasks as needed.

What you know:

  • High school diploma or GED and 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required; Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, Associate’s degree and/or manufacturing certifications preferred, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing multiple employees with expertise in welding companies or industry expertise preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of the production of air cooled and wet surface heat exchangers used in the North American oil, gas and power industries preferred.
  • Experience with systems & methodologies used in manufacturing to include 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen preferred.
  • Knowledge & understanding of financial planning and development.
  • Project work & implementation of business plans experience preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite – i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Strong Skills in time management, attention to details, written & verbal communications.
  • Occasional travel as needed – 15%.

Physical and Environmental Factors:

  • Shop environment with high visibility on shop floor wearing proper PPE.
  • Job requires walking majority of workday.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds occasionally.
  • Shop floor: Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (steel toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs).
  • Shop floor: Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Shop floor: The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
  • Shop floor: Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration.
