About the job
Join Alfa Laval as a Technical Sales Support Engineer to provide advanced technical expertise in automation and controls by troubleshooting and optimizing manufacturing systems utilizing Alfa Laval products, including pumps, valves, tank mixing solutions, membranes, and automation systems. This role is integral in providing high-level technical support to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operation and integration of our solutions. This role will work closely with the broader Technical Support team to work together to enhance the client relationship by providing timely feedback and response to issues/concerns and finding solutions. Solutions encompass all aspects of our system from controls and electrical, to software and networking. Currently, this is a hybrid opportunity located in Kenosha, WI.
As a part of the team, you will:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues at the desktop level for manufacturing systems and other customer sites utilizing Alfa Laval products.
Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
Provide hands-on support during installations, upgrades, and system integration as needed.
Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
Provide customer support in instances where local customer personnel or regions need more focused assistance.
Provide relevant training for control systems where applicable.
Provide troubleshooting expertise through remote support and onsite support when necessary.
Provide ongoing technical guidance and coaching/mentoring to customer controls personnel and regional engineers to strengthen their troubleshooting and repair skills.
Be part of a customer project making visits, meetings, and interactions to customers, focusing on product presentations to offer a customized value proposition to the customer based on unique technical needs.
Support in the complex quotation process in a customer project.
Serve as resident technical expert in any one of several disciplines including: Rheology (including testing), Metallurgy, Elastomers/Polymers.
Travel up to 25% to assist in sales support, field service, training and customer on-site troubleshooting as needed.
What you know:
You have a bachelor's degree in engineering, Automation, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience and:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical support, automation, or systems engineering roles, ideally within the manufacturing or food and beverage sectors.
Controls experience.
Proficiency in programming languages (Relay Ladder Logic – RLL) and control systems. PLC knowledge is preferred.
Experience with the practical application of fluid handling equipment such as pumps, valves, fittings, heat exchangers or related products strongly preferred.
Experience with supporting systems remotely by connecting to various system types via Remote Desktop, SSH, browser, etc.
