Do you want to make a difference in the world? We do. It’s the reason Alfa Laval and Wallenius water have developed Alfa Laval PureBallast – a system to treat ballast water and prevent invasive species from spreading between marine ecosystems. We have had a market leading position since the launch in 2006, and we sell systems to ship owners and shipyards worldwide. We are in a very fast-paced market driven by environmental legislation. Now we are looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to help us make a difference in the world.

Who are you?

You are a business-minded leader with a passion for technology and innovation. Analytical, process-oriented, and conscientious, you strive to exceed expectations and inspire those around you. You empower your team, foster collaboration, and actively contribute to their development. Your strong communication skills and relationship-building abilities enable you to work effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.

About the job

As Engineering Manager, you will lead and motivate a team of highly skilled design engineers, driving product development and product care for the PureBallast system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the engineering team in product development and product care projects.

  • Ensure all new designs comply with applicable standards and regulations (IMO, USCG, Class, ISO, and internal requirements).

  • Provide technical support and verification for new designs.

  • Support supply chain and purchasing activities.

  • Drive and implement technical innovations.

  • Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and daily operations of the team.

  • Serve as a member of the R&D Management team.

This position is based in Flemingsberg, Stockholm and you can expect up to 15 days of travel annually.

What you know

  • University degree in Engineering or a related field provides a solid foundation for understanding technical aspects of the role.

  • 5+ years of experience in leading teams of highly skilled specialists.

  • Experience of product development processes.

  • Experience from maritime industry is a merit.

  • Experience of explosion proof design is a merit.

  • Fluent in Swedish and English is a requirement.

What’s in it for you?

We offer a challenging position in an open and friendly environment, where you will have the possibility to impact on the maritime environment. You will be part of a highly motivated R&D team where we help each other to develop and create value.

The PureBallast product is marketed and sold entirely by Alfa Laval, and you will act within the global Alfa Laval organization, with many international contacts, both internally and externally.

You will be employed by AlfaWall AB.
