About the job

Financial Analyst

  • Newburyport
  • Full time

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and presenting financial information for the local company. You will have the opportunity to support areas such as Factory Controlling, Sales Controlling, Cost Center Controlling, or Project Controlling, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is an On-site opportunity located in Newburyport, MA.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Perform regular analysis of business performance and report variances.
  • Contribute to monthly and year-end closings.
  • For factory controllers: prepare and drive the costing update processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance and internal controls within your area of responsibility.
  • Act as a business partner for your assigned area (Factory, Sales Division, Cost Center, or Project).
  • Drive continuous improvement of business processes and ensure effective financial performance measurement (KPIs).
  • Manage responsibilities with limited complexity in terms of scope and organizational structure.

We care about diversity, inclusion and equity in our recruitment processes. We also believe behavioral traits can provide important insights into a candidate's fit to a role. To help us achieve this we apply Pymetrics assessments, and upon application you will be invited to play the assessment games.

What you know:

You have a bachelor’s degree preferably in accounting, finance, or a related field with relevant experience, and:

  • 4+ years of professional experience related to finance, sales, economics or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate financial insights effectively.

At Alfa Laval, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive and dynamic workplace that values diverse perspectives and experiences. While we typically welcome applicants from all locations, currently, we are prioritizing candidates who reside in the US or have an established presence in the area.
