About the job
The Legal Counsel will primarily be supporting the business units Welded and Circular Technologies and Cryogenic Technologies in the Energy Division in ensuring compliance, enabling strategic growth and managing business risks from a legal perspective. The business units are doing business on a global level but have significant presence in France, Switzerland, and Italy. The Legal Counsel will work closely together with the other legal counsel(s) within the Energy Division and be part of a network of dedicated lawyers supporting our global business.
Key Responsibilities:
Identifying and managing business risk from a legal perspective through sound commercial, legal and ethical risk assessment. This includes providing legal support in all aspects of sales, distribution, development, intellectual property rights, product liability, regulatory requirements and handling of claims and litigations.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex supply, service and/or purchase contracts and bids on a global level and in compliance with Alfa Laval contract standards, including for example Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
Supporting R&D workstreams and projects, including funding aspects and intellectual property protection.
Providing support in various compliance areas such as fair competition, anti-bribery and anti-corruption and export control and sanctions, in cooperation with dedicated functions within Alfa Laval.
Supporting our digital transformation and offerings, including advising on software licenses, connected products and related contracts and risks.
Cooperating closely with regional inhouse legal counsels and central support functions such as Group IP, Group Risk, Group Finance, Group Sustainability etc.
Actively participating in and implementing continuous improvement of related policies and processes, template agreements, and supporting tools.
Educating business colleagues in commercial contracts, corporate governance and compliance areas;
Managing and coordinating disputes and litigations; and
Managing external legal advisors.

What you need
To succeed in this role, you are a highly skilled qualified lawyer with a law degree from a reputable university within EU.
You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as in-house counsel, or attorney at leading law firm, in an international setting.
You have experience in drafting, negotiating, and litigating international commercial contracts, including complex project contracts and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
You have experience in managing distribution and agent contracts, and are familiar with intellectual property matters, insurance requirements and clauses and product liability regulation from a manufacturing perspective.
Knowledge from relevant industries and applications is a success factor, and work experience related to digital transformation, digital content and software licensing is a merit.
You have excellent communication skills in English, verbally and in writing. Knowledge in French is a great advantage.
