About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role oversees repair-related activities across all Separation/PHE (Plate Heat Exchanger) product lines. You will have the opportunity of leading, developing and securing a high performing team in line with the overall Service strategy and the Alfa Laval culture to create an excellent customer experience and meet the service market demands, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is an onsite opportunity based in Greenwood, IN.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Secure a strong environmental health and safety culture within the team.
  • Manage and develop team capabilities to support the overall Service strategy.
  • Lead the team giving the direction and ensuring that they are performing with a strong customer orientated mindset.
  • Develop, motivate, and coach direct reports and secure a proper competence development.
  • Maintain, track, and report employee utilization and business metrics.
  • Manage performance issues within the team appropriately and quickly.
  • Quickly adapt availability of internal resources based on customer demands.
  • Ensure that jobs are executed according to importance in close cooperation with coordinators.
  • Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shop to ensure adequate working conditions.
  • Requisition of materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
  • Manage and monitor preventative maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Implement continuous safety and efficiency improvements based on ALPS board meetings as well as by innovative processes and technologies.
  • Ensure all shop operations comply with ISO 9001:2015 standards and other applicable regulatory requirements.

What you know:

You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering science or equivalent experience preferred, with relevant experience, and:

  • Type and Length of Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of working experience in a supervisor role (leading teams or projects).
    • Hands-on experience with repairing/reconditioning in a manufacturing, job shop or customer service environment desirable.
    • Experience from improvement tools, e g Lean manufacturing (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong emphasis on utilizing Excel to create Pivot Tables.
    • Fundamental knowledge of financial principles and practices.
    • Strong understanding of machining and welding techniques.
    • Quality management system regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
    • Strong Customer Service skills.
    • Leadership and management skills.
    • Ability to read and work from blueprints.
    • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
    • Strong communication and respectful interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
    • Demonstrate ability to perform effectively within a team environment.
    • Strong understanding of machining and welding techniques.
    • Ability to work within stressful situations.
    • Fundamental knowledge of standard word processing software and spreadsheets.
