Who you are:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Team Manager to head both the E&MS and R&D Mechanical Engineering teams at our Qingdao HUB of Marine Solutions. This role combines managerial leadership with hands-on technical expertise, overseeing order execution for capital sales and service projects, driving product development and optimization, product improvements through Engineering Changes, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative environment. You will work closely with global colleagues, particularly in Denmark, and ensure that engineering solutions meet project-specific requirements and manufacturing standards. You have important role to be close of our stakeholders in Northeast Asia including customers, Alfa Laval’s sales companies and our factory in Qingdao.

Lead and Develop Teams
– Manage and motivate a diverse mechanical engineering team of E&MS and R&D engineers (mechanical, repair, CAD, calculation, welding)
– Support team members in daily operations, development, and performance dialogues.
– Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding.
•Project Execution & Order Handling
– Oversee mechanical design and ensure components fit project requirements before handover to customers, manufacturing, and purchasing.
– Ensure timing, quality and efficiency in mechanical deliverables.
– Contribute to the optimization of order processes and SOPs.
•Product Development & Optimization
– Drive product development and maintenance tasks, including hands-on involvement
– Lead product optimization initiatives through structured Engineering Changes.
– Arrange cause- and impact analysis for manufacturing issues related to existing and new products.
– Apply Design for Manufacturing principles in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
•Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
– Work in close operation with your European Mechanical Engineering manager colleague by sharing and owning roles & responsibilities
– Act as the extended arm of the Product Development Manager in Aalborg, Denmark, ensuring alignment and transparency across sites.
– Build trust and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, sales companies, customers, and global functions.
– Collaborate closely with E&MS and R&D colleagues in Europe and international teams.
•Operational Excellence
– Set and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for team and project performance.
– Ensure compliance with Alfa Laval global standards and procedures.
– Translate strategic goals into operational actions and deliver agreed results.
– Contribute to efficiency and cost optimization in BU MAS.
