Full time
Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.
As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.
About the job
This role is responsible for commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting onboard ALS systems. The role bridges engineering, operations, and customer support, combining hands-on technical work with structured problem-solving and clear communication.
The role also includes developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the commissioning manuals and technical documentation for the OceanGlide ALS system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability for both internal teams and customers
You will work directly with ship crews, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to ensure systems are installed correctly, perform as expected, and continuously improve based on real operational feedback.
A part of this role involves working at shipyard and onboard vessels for extended periods, including sailing during commissioning and validation phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide remote diagnostics and real-time support to vessels, guiding crews and coordinating issue resolution with internal teams and external partners.
Commissioning & Onboard Activities: Execute commissioning, inspections, and functional testing. Participate in sea trials and sailing periods to validate system performance and ensure correct installation and integration.
Training & SOP Development: Train vessel crews and service engineers, while developing and maintaining SOPs to ensure consistent and safe global service execution.
Performance & Continuous Improvement: Support performance data collection and validation, working with engineers to optimize system output and drive improvements based on fleet learnings.
Technical Expertise & Engineering Support: Perform PLC diagnostics, software updates, and system troubleshooting. Contribute to technical documentation and collaborate with engineering teams to improve system design and reliability.
Lifecycle & Service Support: Support spare parts definition and contribute to lifecycle service strategies to ensure long-term system performance across the fleet.
This position is based at our Aalborg office, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 80– 100 days per year.
Who are you
You are structured in your approach, able to break down complex problems, and confident taking ownership when systems don’t behave as expected. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are comfortable guiding vessel crews in operational environments.
You thrive in dynamic setting and are comfortable working onboard vessels for extended periods. More than years of experience, you bring the right attitude: willingness to learn, take responsibility, and contribute to building something that is still evolving.
What you know
We are looking for a strong technical foundation rather than deep prior specialization in ALS systems. Full training will be provided.
Background and experience:
Technical degree in Marine Engineering, Automation, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar)
Experience with marine systems, commissioning, automation, or industrial service
Experience working with Siemens PLCs and shipboard automation
Technical skills:
Strong understanding of air compressor systems, valves, and pneumatic controls
Experience with TIA Portal, PLC diagnostics, and system software deployment
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical diagrams, and installation schematics
Additional requirements:
Willingness to travel globally, including onboard stays and sea voyages
Strong focus on safety and compliance with marine service standards
Ability to represent OceanGlide professionally in customer and partner interactions
You may not tick every box, and that’s okay. If you have a solid technical foundation, the right mindset, and the curiosity and willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on environment, we encourage you to apply.
