Who you are:

We are looking Automation Engineer for our Business Unit Heat & Gas Systems (BU HGS) Qingdao Marine site. As an Automation Engineer, you are working in our Engineering & Supply (E&S) organization, and you are part of Automation Engineering team. You are working in order execution of capital sales and service projects in marine business. You are working with automation systems for boiler, burner, gas combustion units and exhaust gas cleaning products. Your main tasks are to develop, maintain and support our automation systems. You will ensure that automation design fit to the project specific requirements before handing over to classification, testing and customer. You will be the link between our project team, classification authority and FAT testing team. You are reporting locally to Team Leader of Automation Engineering team. You are closely working with E&S colleagues in Europe & China, project teams & Alfa Laval’s sales companies & suppliers in Northeast Asia and our factory in Qingdao.

To succeed in this position, you have automation engineer background and experience from automation engineering and PLC programs. You have good organizing, co-ordination and communication skills. You are cooperative and able to communicate in fluent English.

About the job:

  • Safety is priority in all our work. You ensure that our automation designs are compliant and according to rules and regulations.
  • Participate in and support the FAT testing of the panel and handle the feedback issues from on-site debugging personnel
  • Support and train the testing team to enable them to have a clearer understanding of the product operation logic
  • Deliver your tasks to internal and external stakeholders on time.
  • Communicate and co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Investigating next generation core automation platform
  • Reviewing and testing other team members code blocks
  • Supporting our automation solutions throughout the organization 

What you know:

  • Your educational background (master / bachelor’s degree in electrical or automation engineering), or a similar technical background
  • Have rich experience in electrical components, instruments, sensors and control systems
  • You have experience in designing medium and large-scale PLC control systems and you are proficient in using text-based programming languages such as SCL
  • Proficient in standard FB programming
  • Have experience in creating specifications for automated systems
  • Have programming experience for PLC (Siemens, Mitsubishi or B&R) and HMI (Siemens, B&R, beijer) projects
  • Those with experience in creating test specifications are preferred
  • Have a genuine interest and ability in industry and Marine craftsmanship
  • Your work is proactive, systematic and organized.
  • You have team spirit and the ability to coordinate different stakeholders
  • You are flexible and positive in change
  • Good English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills                              

We appreciate

  • Experience and knowledge from boiler systems and/or exhaust gas cleaning systems for Marine Industry
  • Experience and knowledge from marine / shipbuilding industry, marine standards and marine class requirements
