Alfa Laval in Søborg is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join R&D Decanters and be trained to become our Gearbox subject matter expert.
In your primary role, you will be responsible for decanters' product and technology development. We are searching for a skilled engineer who would like to be part of expanding our technological knowledge and making an impact on the future development of decanters. In this role, you will primarily participate in decanter development projects working closely with your colleagues in R&D as well as colleagues in other departments focusing on production, service, and sales, you will be engaged in the following responsibilities:
Design and maintain machine components
Improve the existing range of decanters through design optimization and cost reduction
Build field experience by troubleshooting for customers
Work on quality cases including testing in our Test & Innovation Center as well as in the field together with our customers
Training of new employees from our sales and service teams
Secondary to this, you will also be trained to become our Gearbox design subject matter expert, using KISSsoft program (for design concepts for a Gearbox). You will become the go-to-person. This represents about 10% of your role but will be a very important aspect of your focus.
At Alfa Laval, we embrace a hybrid work model, providing you the flexibility to work from home when it aligns with your tasks. This position is based at our Søborg office in Copenhagen, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 5 – 10 days per year.
What you know
To be successful in this position, we expect you to hold a degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering. You have a theoretical background in mechanics design, strength, and dynamics, Interest in maintenance & improving our range of gearbox designs, project management experience, experience in 3D CAD programs (we are using NX, but others are accepted), experience with ERP systems (we are using Team Center), and English fluency.
Background that will be helpful for easier transition into becoming our Gearbox SME
Coming from the automotive industry, especially those involved in transmission systems, drivetrains, or powertrain development, turbomachinery, industrial machinery with conveyors, cranes, mixers, or heavy-duty rotating equipment often exposed to gear trains, bearings, and torque transmission, wind turbine engineering, clutches, couplings, and bearings, rotating machinery and dynamic systems, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of mechanical components.
