About the Job

We are looking for an R&D Engineer for Single Use Pharma Devices. You will join our dynamic R&D Pump team at Alfa Laval (but the development and design will not be limited to pumps but cover all fluid handling equipment In this impactful and collaborative role, you’ll be at the forefront of developing innovative single-use solutions for pharma manufacturing processes. You’ll lead the technical journey from concept to portfolio, starting with pioneering new pump designs and supporting drive unit development, and growing into shaping a comprehensive range of single-use products and components for the future.

Your expertise will drive feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of performance, manufacturability, and compliance. You’ll collaborate across disciplines and geographies, making a real difference in both immediate projects and long-term innovation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop single-use products tailored for pharma use cases
  • Apply plastics design principles to ensure performance, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Drive design verification, pharma product validation, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions
  • Support the R&D team with your plastic design experience and material knowledge
  • Interact broadly at both global and local levels, navigating a matrix organization

What You Know

  • Engineering background with hands-on experience in plastics design
  • Pharma industry experience or strong understanding of pharma requirements (FDA, USP Class VI, ISO 13485)
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical direction in a new product area
  • Familiarity with fluid dynamics, GMP, and single-use materials
  • Knowledge of validation and compliance for pharma products
  • Experience in product development, prototyping, and testing
  • Strong skills in design verification and product validation
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate across disciplines
  • English fluency (spoken and written)
  • Danish language skills preferred, but not required
