Alfa Laval Olmi is searching for Suisio site a BID Engineer
Responsible for developing a commercially competitive technical proposal for shell tube heat exchangers and air coolers after producing a comprehensive cost estimate by liaising with Clients (in coordination with the Sales Manager after Sales Division), colleagues from other departments, and suppliers.
Activities:
• Analysis of project specifications to prepare time estimates, material costs, lists, and timelines for internal and external manufacturing activities.
• Mechanical calculation of pressure components (pressure parts) according to international calculation codes (ASME, PED, AD2000, etc.).
• Analysis of actual costs compared to quotes for acquired projects to optimize future proposals.
• Consultation with clients, suppliers, and personnel from other departments to discuss and formulate estimates aimed at continuous improvement of costs and deliveries, including critical analysis of historical data.
• Interface with the Purchasing Office to maintain an updated list of suppliers and contractors.
• Conduct activities to establish the company cost standard for manufacturing activities.
• Participation in project definition meetings with the client and order kickoff meetings.
• Reports and analyses relevant to cost estimation.
• Preparation of the complete technical proposal, including deviations and/or clarifications to the project specifications
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace, or Energy Engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience in cost estimation for pressure equipment in general, with at least 5 years specifically in Shell & Tube heat exchangers for Oil & Gas applications.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical calculations for pressure components according to international codes such as ASME.
• Knowledge of the technical specifications for materials used in pressure services (ASME II and equivalents).
• Experience in evaluating the manufacturing cycles of pressure equipment and related timelines.
• Proficiency in mechanical drawing and CAD design.
• Professional-level English language skills.
• Ability to structure work in an organized manner and coordinate with other stakeholders.
• Problem-solving orientation.
• Goal-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skills:
• Expertise related to equipment for ammonia, urea, ethylene, methanol, hydrogen, and power plants.
• Expertise in high-pressure smoke tube boilers.
• Experience in similar roles within companies in the sector, including international environments.
• Basic knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
