Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.
As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.
About the job
As a CAE Engineer in Solid Mechanics, you will be part of Business Unit High-Speed Separators (BU HSS), where we develop and deliver world-leading separation technologies. Our separators operate under high loads and strict safety requirements, making advanced calculations and simulations crucial for performance and reliability.
You will join the Solid Mechanics team, a specialist group where we contribute with our expertise in structural analysis and design verification to the entire organization. The role is hands-on and combines project work, new product development and operational support. It’s a varied position where you will contribute to ongoing product improvements, drive new innovations, and deliver the business with your solid mechanics expertise whenever challenges arise.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and run static, transient and fatigue simulations (ANSYS or similar).
Build simulation models, validate with tests and propose practical design improvements.
Perform pressure-vessel calculations and ensure compliance with ASME and PED standards, including reporting and revisions.
Contribute to product development and concept work with ideas and feasibility studies.
Share knowledge, mentor colleagues and help drive CAE best practices across the team.
Who you are
You are a practical and curious engineer who enjoys solving mechanical challenges and turning theory into real results. You have a genuine interest in understanding how things work, both through advanced simulations and by rolling up your sleeves with practical mechanics and hands-on engineering. You are collaborative and enjoy working with others across disciplines — from designers to service engineers. At the same time, you are confident in taking ownership, leading tasks, and sharing your expertise. You are adaptable and thrive in a mix of long-term projects and quick problem-solving. Communication comes naturally to you, and you are comfortable explaining complex topics in a clear, structured way. You are motivated by learning, teaching, and being part of a specialist team where your contribution makes a real difference.
Furthermore, we see you are:
Holding a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent, preferably with a focus on calculations and simulations.
Experienced in CAE and solid mechanics; ANSYS and LS-DYNA knowledge is a strong plus.
Familiar with pressure vessel rules (ASME and PED) and related documentation/reporting.
Comfortable with Creo CAD and PLM workflows (Windchill/Teamcenter) is a bonus.
Having experience in rotor dynamics, vibration analysis, fluid mechanics, or test/validation is advantageous.
Experienced in project or technical leadership and strong communication skills are a plus.
What’s in it for you?
We offer a challenging and rewarding position in an open and collaborative environment where your expertise in solid mechanics will directly contribute to developing world-leading separation technologies. You’ll work on projects that impact both ongoing product improvements and new innovations, making a real difference to Alfa Laval’s success.
