Together with your management team, you'll lead both people and innovation, extending our technology and market leadership.
While your initial focus will be within the Decanter area, you will also hold the represent R&D leadership responsibility across the entire Business Unit, ensuring cross-collaboration, alignment of technological development, and driving economies of scale, for example, in areas like automation development.

About the job
As Head of R&D, you'll play a pivotal role in the development, upkeep of decanters, driving out technology leadership for both capital and service offerings. You are expected to drive the ownership for the full offering including automation secure market leadership on technology. You foster high performing teams within R&D Decanter and take ownership for the for the broader R&D network across the Business Unit. Your main responsibilities will include:
Lead the decanter R&D, nurturing and inspiring team members to drive for technology leadership and foster a performance culture
Drive the development of the features, platforms, automation & IOT, concept development, and competitive offerings of our products now and in the future
Timely execution of multiple projects and tasks, foster robust collaboration both internally and externally to ensure successful offerings to the customers
Ensuring teams remain focused on their core responsibilities, while effectively prioritizing work across the R&D organization to align with business goals.
The team consists of three department managers with a dedicated organization within. Reporting to the President for business unit decanters, you'll be an integral part of the BU Management Team. At Alfa Laval, we embrace a hybrid work model, providing you the flexibility to work from home when it aligns with your tasks. This position is based at our Søborg office in Copenhagen, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 25 - 35 days per year.

You bring structure to your own work and to that of your teams, facilitating efficient workflows and outcomes. Besides that, we expect you to have:
A university degree in Engineering or a related field provides a solid foundation for understanding technical aspects of the role.
Solid R&D experience, with a proven track record of turning technical concepts into successful, market-ready products in an industrial setting
10+ years' experience in leading teams of managers and highly skilled specialists, you bring valuable leadership insight into the role.
A keen interest in technology and innovation, aligning business objectives with technological advancements.
Knowledge and experience in successful agile product development for industrial products is preferred.
