We have a 2nd shift opening for a Machine Center Operator. This position operates various equipment and machines in production.

About the position:

This position will set up, operate and maintain conventional and special-purpose machine(s) to fabricate heat exchangers and components with minimal assistance. Maintain accurate parts through the operation of the machine and follow quality assurance and safety procedures, to include the following:.

  • Completes the loading, machining process, unloading, de-burring and other functions to complete set up and operation of the machine.

  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.

  • Provides needed material(s) to various workstations and/or locations.

  • Reads blueprints or instructions for job specifications.

  • Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.

  • Makes adjustments during the machining processes including but not limited to tool wear and changing tools.

  • May install machined replacement parts into mechanisms, equipment and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.

  • Maintains machine and associated tools with limited assistance.

  • Completes Preventive Maintenance Checklist.

  • Uses depth gauges and other measuring devices to check quality of work.

  • Troubleshoots incoming problems and communicates with Team Leader or Manager any that require assistance.

  • Transports product to/from assigned department.

  • Cross-trains in other areas/departments as needed.

  • Assists Lead or Supervisor with various tasks as needed.

  • Reads calipers to verify correct dimensions of finished product.

  • Safely rigs structure and material for movement by overhead crane.

What you know:

You have a High School or GED equivalent. Candidates interested in company-sponsored GED program will be considered.  You will have a respectful approach to working with others and prior experience with: 

  • Basic math skills including ability to read a tape measure and calipers required, and micrometers.

  • 2 years’ experience operating computer numerical controlled milling machine required.

  • Basic computer experience and knowledge of basic “G” and “M” codes preferred.

  • Computer experience preferred.

  • Prior manufacturing experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints required.

  • Experience using industrial machines required.

  • Forklift operation certification preferred.

  • Overhead crane experience preferred.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following; Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) milling, CNC drilling, or CNC plasma.

Physical Requirements and Environmental:

  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

  • Stands or walks 70% of workday.

  • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
