Who you are:

We are looking for Mechanical Engineer to our Qingdao Marine site of Business Unit Marine Solutions (BU MAS).  As a Mechanical Engineer, you are working in our Engineering & Supply (E&S) organization, and you are part of Mechanical Engineering team. You are working in order execution of capital sales projects in marine business. You are working with boilers, burners, heaters, gas combustion units, exhaust gas cleaning products and related system components. Mechanical Engineer will ensure that mechanical design and components fit to project specific requirements before handing over to customer, manufacturing and purchasing. You are reporting locally to Mechanical Engineering Team Leader. You are closely working with E&S colleagues in China & Europe and project teams & Alfa Laval’s sales companies & customers in Northeast Asia and our factory in Qingdao.

To succeed in this position, you have engineer background and experience from mechanical engineering, marine engineering or production. You have good organizing, co-ordination and communication skills. You are cooperative and able to communicate in fluent English.

What you know:

Your qualifications

  • Your educational background (M.Sc./B.Sc.) from technical side
  • Experience from mechanical engineering, marine engineering, or production
  • You have experience of mechanical design work. You can work with mechanical 3D design software and 2D with AutoCAD. We appreciate knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
  • You have experience of reading and understanding P&I Diagrams.
  • You have basic knowledge of materials, material standards and welding
  • You have basic knowledge of strength-, flow-, or thermal calculations
  • You have an analytical mindset, and you are active, systematic and structured in your work.
  • You are flexible and positive to changes
  • You drive for results and improvement
  • You are open and have good communication and co-ordination skills
  • Good English skill both oral and written.

About the job:

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for making the project specific design according to customer requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring mechanical system is compliant and fit for purpose based on capacity, flow calculations and strength calculations.
  • Deliver your tasks to internal stakeholders on time.
  • Make production drawing for production
  • Create purchase order proposals with correct items for purchasing
  • Prepare class approval drawings to get class approval for products
  • Technical support for factory related to design issues in production and support for technical requests from suppliers
  • You are part project team together with project manager, system engineer and other mechanical / electrical engineers. You need to build trust and maintain strong and transparent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You are able of handling more than one project at a time and being involved in several projects without losing your focus.
  • Contribute to optimize work processes, internally and externally
  • Be a part of a continuous improvement culture, always looking for smarter ways of working.

We appreciate

  • Experience and knowledge from boiler and pressure vessel design, calculations and standards
  • Experience and knowledge from marine / shipbuilding industry, marine standards and marine class requirements
