We’re looking for
At Alfa Laval, we develop solutions that improve performance, reliability and sustainability for customers in process industries worldwide.
We are looking for a commercially strong and market-oriented Portfolio Manager to strengthen our Hygienic Valves business across Southern Europe, South America, Africa and Middle-east.
This role combines active market engagement, regional portfolio responsibility, ownership of product launches and commercial enablement. It is suited for a mid-career professional with solid commercial judgement and the confidence to engage decision-makers in project-driven markets.
The role
As Portfolio Manager, you ensure that our portfolio development, launches and commercial activities are grounded in real customer and project insight.
You will actively engage with end-users, EPCs and industry influencers to understand how investment decisions are shaped, what drives specifications, and where competitive advantages are created.
You will translate these insights into portfolio priorities, focused market positioning and practical sales enablement that strengthens our channels’ ability to engage proactively.
The role does not carry direct sales targets. However, it has clear responsibility for influencing how and where we compete, and how effectively we position our solutions in capital project environments.
Key responsibilities
Active market engagement
Engage directly with end-users, EPCs and strategic partners through customer visits, exhibitions and targeted meetings.
Identify decision drivers, specification trends and adoption barriers in capital project environments.
Build structured insight based on first-hand dialogue and market observation.
Regional portfolio responsibility
Develop a clear understanding of market dynamics, competitive positioning and product mix.
Maintain ongoing dialogue with regional sales and channel organizations to align portfolio focus with market realities.
Bring fact-based regional perspectives into portfolio discussions and prioritization.
Strategic project and account prioritization
Develop a structured view of key end-users and major capital projects within assigned regions.
Contribute to defining criteria for prioritizing strategic projects and accounts.
Ensure that portfolio focus and launch activities are aligned with selected high-impact opportunities.
Support early positioning by clarifying value drivers and competitive differentiation relevant to prioritized projects.
Innovation input and portfolio direction
Contribute to early-stage discussions on new offerings by bringing validated market insight and commercial reasoning.
Assess customer value, competitive positioning and business potential before development resources are committed.
Identify opportunities to strengthen, simplify or adjust the portfolio over time.
Launch ownership
Own or co-own product launches within the portfolio, acting as Launch Manager when assigned, and ensuring strong market positioning, coordinated activation and consistent value communication across regions.
Commercial enablement and value development
Develop structured sales enablement tools that support proactive, value-based dialogue in project-driven markets.
Translate technical strengths into clear commercial narratives and practical tools that can be used by regional sales and channel organizations.
Support the shift from technical product presentations to customer outcome-oriented positioning.
Contribute to structuring complementary service and advisory elements into clear offerings that strengthen differentiation and hardware sales.
Work with regional teams to test, refine and improve adoption of these tools and offerings.
Your profile
You have several years of experience in an international B2B environment with technical products or solutions, ideally within project-driven industries in Food & Pharma.
Your background may include strategic sales, key account development, commercial business development, or a portfolio-related role with strong customer exposure.
You understand how technical performance influences investment decisions and specifications. You are comfortable discussing applications, functionality, and competitive differences with technical stakeholders, while maintaining a clear commercial perspective.
You combine commercial judgment with sufficient technical understanding to translate product capabilities into market insight and structured commercial priorities.
You are motivated by shaping positioning and focus in complex markets. You are comfortable working across regions and influencing through credibility rather than authority.
You are equally at ease in a plant environment discussing hygienic applications as you are in a strategic dialogue about market positioning.
Why Alfa Laval
