We’re looking for a

Program Manager – Life Science

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping. As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

In this role, you will join a collaborative and cross-functional R&D organization that brings together Product managers, Chief Engineers, technology experts, and development and test engineers to drive innovation and product excellence. You’ll be part of the Product Development & Quality department, working closely and collaborating with project managers and other program managers.

As a Program Manager for our product-led Life Science program, you will take full ownership of the entire product life cycle—from initial ideas and development, through launch, growth, and eventual phase-out. You’ll balance strategy and execution, lead cross-functional collaboration, and ensure our portfolio evolves in line with customer and market needs, while executing the Pharma strategy by integrating product, application, and R&D perspectives into program planning and delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop the Life Science program, defining goals, roadmaps, and strategies together with Product Management and key stakeholders.

  • Ensure that Pharma-specific demands, such as quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, are embedded throughout the product life cycle.

  • Plan and prioritize across multiple projects and product care activities.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams in a matrix setup, ensuring alignment, progress, and quality delivery.

  • Manage governance and decision forums by preparing stakeholder material and leading program reviews.

  • Collaborate broadly with Product Management, R&D, Operations, Quality, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and Sales.

  • Support resource planning and ensure effective allocation across ongoing initiatives.

  • Identify and mitigate risks, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Bridge technology and business, translating customer needs into executable R&D priorities.

Who you are

You’re someone who thrives on bringing clarity to complexity. You enjoy connecting people and ideas, creating alignment where there are many moving parts. You’re a natural collaborator who influences and leads through trust, structure, and communication.

You have a curious and commercial mindset, with a genuine interest in understanding customers and translating their needs into meaningful technical solutions. You think strategically while staying close to the details, balancing long-term vision with day-to-day execution. You’re also a confident communicator, comfortable in front of both engineers and executives, and skilled at turning data into decisions and discussions into direction. Above all, you’re driven by making things happen together with others.

Furthermore, we believe you have:

  • Degree in engineering, science, or business (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience in program and/or project management in a complex, matrix-based organization, while collaborating across departments.

  • Strong knowledge of program governance, including planning, prioritization, resource management, and performance reporting.

  • Understanding of risk and quality management within a technical or regulated industry.

  • Background in Life Science (pharma/biotech/bioprocess) and/or separation or process technologies.

What’s in it for you?
At Alfa Laval, you’ll work in a collaborative environment where innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement are at the core. You’ll have the opportunity to make real impact – combining strategic scope with hands-on delivery in a fast-evolving Life Science market.
