About the job…

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning and designing manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. This position is responsible for maximizing efficiency by analyzing and redesigning layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.  Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.  Relies on experience and judgment to accomplish goals. 

This is an onsite position located in Richmond, VA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides technical production support for assigned manufacturing unit(s)
  • Supports and develops continuous process improvements including material handling systems, facility layouts, continuous flow systems and manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Proposes and / or manages assigned projects to improve operations
  • Implements and supports production measurement systems
  • Evaluates make vs. buy proposals
  • Responsible for the financial management of repairs, maintenance and consumables
  • Supports the Area Manager in assigning staff to maximize capacity utilization of equipment

What you know:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering environment involving machining, welding & assembly operations.
  • Knowledge & understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes & systems.
  • Experienced in leading, implementing & completing projects.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite & Lotus Notes Email.
  • Time management.

At Alfa Laval, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine your total compensation package. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job, background, skills, and experience to get it right.  The base salary for this role is typically $78,000.00 to $88,000.00
