About the Job

This is a high-impact opportunity to join an inclusive and diverse organization. Based at the Alfa Laval office in São Paulo, Brazil, this role focuses on managing and executing customer projects for our Separation Technologies portfolio (Disc Stack Centrifuges, Decanters, and Membrane Systems) serving customers in the Food (Protein, Oils & Fats, Beverages, Biofuels) & Pharma Industries.

As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring contract fulfillment, correct project delivery, and a superior customer experience for all projects sold by the Capital Sales team of Separation. Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Customer Experience: Act as the primary focal point and trusted partner for the customer during the execution phase. Ensure the correct delivery of all projects sold by the Capital Sales team, manage contract expectations, and drive a superior customer experience.
  • Planning & Execution: Design, communicate, and implement an operational plan for completing the project, ensuring all technical and commercial contract requirements are strictly met.
  • Performance & Cost Control: Monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Rigorously manage the project budget and financials, controlling costs and optimizing margins to ensure overall project profitability.
  • Problem Solving: Take proactive action to resolve operational problems, mitigate risks, and minimize delays throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resource Management & Internal Collaboration: Identify, develop, and gather the resources necessary to complete the project. Liaise with other operational areas (engineering, technical, supply chain, service operations) to secure specialized resources and contributions.
  • Contractor Management: Select and manage the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are seamlessly integrated into the project and deliver satisfactory standards of service.
  • Field Operations: Supervise projects on-site and actively participate in commissioning and start-up phases together with internal or external service engineers.
  • Post-Delivery Support: Manage troubleshooting and provide technical support during the warranty period to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Profile & Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, or related fields).

  • Background:
    • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of solid experience in project management, with a proven track record bridging technical field execution and financial/contractual management, preferably dealing with capital equipment, industrial plants, or turnkey solutions.
    • Project & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, contract clauses, and direct customer negotiations during the execution phase.
    • Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in the Food & Beverage industry is highly desirable. Familiarity with Separation Equipment (Centrifuges, Decanters, Membrane Systems) is a strong advantage.
    • Field Expertise: Previous hands-on experience with site supervision, contractor management, and commissioning/start-up routines.

  • Languages (Mandatory):
    • Native or Fluent Portuguese.
    • Advanced or Fluent English (mandatory for global interactions).

Complementary Information

  • Travel: Availability to travel up to 50% of the time across Brazil for site supervision, commissioning, and customer meetings.
  • Location: This is an on-site position based at the Alfa Laval office in São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Report Line: This position will report to the Capital Sales Manager of the Separation Business Unit.
