OBJECTIVE
The Quality Technician for the Brazed Heat Exchanger (BHE) business unit performs and documents general to specific inspection and test activities of product at various stages in the manufacturing process. Inspections and test activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures to support industry, Alfa Laval BHE, and customer specific quality requirements.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION (outline job duties and responsibilities):
Receiving
• Receipt inspection of incoming material and vendor fabricated components to verify compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Review Material Test Reports
• Material identification and marking.
• Documentation of receipt inspection.
In-process Assembly and Final Inspection
• Material Verification.
• Pre-Assembly - Weld joint preparation and fit-up inspection.
• Assembly dimensional verifications.
• Grid Assembly Inspection
• Finish QC Tester verification
• Verification of product to ASME Section VIII specifications
• Final inspection of product prior to shipping
• Shipping documentation auditing
Quality Assurance
• Document and verify correction of nonconforming conditions.
• Document inspection and testing activities in accordance with established procedures.
Welding Program
• Welding qualification, ASME qualification preferred
ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS
• Assigned to the Richmond Brazed Heat Exchanger (BHE) Quality Department. Works under the overall direction from the BHE Quality Engineer and with various personnel assigned and Business Unit.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED
• Associates degree in a technical field with a minimum of 2 years QC inspection experience in an
ASME manufacturing environment preferred; or
• A minimum of 5 years QC inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; or
a comparable level or education and experience in a related technical field (subject to QA management
review).
• Formal training, experience, or certification in welding or weld inspection preferred
COMMUNICATION MEASURES
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form with all levels of personnel within the organization (employees, customer inspector, management, etc.)

• Computer knowledge skills appropriate for position include Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Limited travel to customer or vendor locations, as well as other Alfa Laval Sites may be required.
Salary: $21.00/hr.
