About the job
We are looking for a passionate and experienced leader to drive the development of automation and IoT within Alfa Laval’s Business Unit Decanters. As our R&D Automation & IoT Manager, you will play a key role in shaping our future by strengthening our automation and data analytic capabilities and setting the direction for cutting-edge intelligent solutions that bring value to our customers and the business.
You will lead a team of specialists while also acting as the architect bridging OT, IT and data science, translating our product strategy into technical capabilities and solutions. You will be part of the R&D management team and collaborate closely with Product Management, Global Sales and Service, and other departments. Since this is a newly established role, some elements may still be evolving, giving you the opportunity to help shape the scope and structure as you go. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, coaching, and supporting a team of automation, electrical, data, and IoT specialists
Bringing strong expertise in data science and IoT to guide development and innovation
Defining the technical strategy and roadmap and owning the overall architecture
Ensuring solutions meet cybersecurity and quality standards
Managing project timelines, resources, and deliverables
Collaborating across departments to define technical requirements and support innovation
Building strong partnerships internally and externally, including with vendors and external partners
Contributing to the R&D management team and influencing the future direction of our technology
At Alfa Laval, we embrace a hybrid work model, providing you the flexibility to work from home when it aligns with your tasks. This position is based at our Søborg office in Copenhagen, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 20-30 days per year.
Who are you
You’re someone who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys translating complex challenges into clear, actionable plans. You naturally take initiative and enjoy working hands-on as much as you do think strategically. You find purpose in leading people, not only by setting direction but by enabling growth and collaboration.
You’re also curious by nature and driven by the potential of technology to transform how we work and what we offer our customers. Your calm and focused approach helps you navigate change, while your communication skills allow you to bring others with you on the journey. You lead with integrity and purpose, and you know that real innovation is always a team effort.
What you know
You bring a solid engineering foundation and leadership experience, with strength in data science and IoT. You know how to bridge the gap between technical depth and business relevance, and you’ve done it successfully in complex environments. Your background includes:
A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
Proven experience managing engineering teams, ideally within automation, IoT, or data science domains
Strong technical expertise in automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley, B&R)
Experience with IoT technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with programming and data languages like Python, R, or SQL
Understanding of product development and agile methodologies
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Project management experience (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
What’s in it for you
In this role, you’ll help shape the future of automation and IoT for one of Alfa Laval’s key business areas. You’ll work with engaged colleagues, exciting technologies, and a wide network of internal and external partners who share your passion for innovation.
At Alfa Laval, we believe in giving our people the freedom to grow, contribute, and create impact. Join us and bring your expertise where it matters.
