About the job 

Alfa Laval UK&I are on an exciting journey, with an innovative product offering and strong position in the market, we are looking for an external sales engineer who will join our process energy team focusing on heat exchange and separation technology.

As a Sales Account Manager (external sales engineer) in our process energy team your role will be instrumental in developing customer relationships to build sales of Heat Exchangers and Separation technology into the Energy Process markets including Chemicals, Metals, Power, etc, within the UK&I. This is a home-based role with frequent travel required. We will have two Sales Account Managers within the Energy Process team, one will cover the North and the other the South of the UK. A full, valid, driving license will be essential for the role.

The main responsibilities include:

•    Generating sales and develop future business through existing and new customers to end users and contractors.
•    Identifying sales potential and develop a proactive business plan taking into consideration the relevant strategies, goals & priorities of the division.
•    Drive continued growth and forge lasting relationships with key customers.
•    Proactively follow up quotations, manage opportunities, develop leads, and establish contacts with the customer base using CRM tools.
•    You will be expected to spend 60 - 70% of your time attending key sites and meetings with customers/ potential customers , travel will be predominantly UK based.

Who you are

You are a self-motivated, target driven individual with a proven track record of business development ideally in the target industries. You have a professional sales approach. You are organised and have good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team with both internal and external colleagues. You are customer centric and have the drive to successfully develop and secure business-to-business sales. A focus on continuous improvement is in your DNA and you will be comfortable working in line with Alfa Laval drivers; Action, Interaction, and Satisfaction.

What you know

Ideally, you should have an Engineering qualification to at least HNC level, or equivalent.

Ideally, you have experience of thermal or separation products. Experience in selling engineering products via end users and contractors is a plus, preferably within the Process and/or Energy industry.

You must have a valid driving licence.

Experience in the metal/ chemical industry is highly desired.

Experience within Sales including commercial knowledge ( sales planning and forecasting)

Competency in Microsoft applications including Dynamics 365 CRM, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
