About the job
As Senior IP Legal Counsel you will serve as Alfa Laval’s central expert for Intellectual Property (IP) legal matters, focusing on trade secrets, IP enforcement, licensing, IP clauses in agreements, and trademarks, copyright, domain names. Support IP policy and strategy development outside patents, collaborating closely with patent attorneys and in-house lawyers throughout the world.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on trademarks, domain names, and related processes.
Lead and manage trade secrets and copyright programs and projects.
Drive infringement matters and enforcement of IP rights globally (including patents, in collaboration with patent attorneys and/or local legal counsels).
Manage relevant external and internal stakeholders.
Set and implement overall IP litigation and enforcement strategy.
Draft, negotiate, and provide general support for IP clauses and related aspects in, for example, sales and purchase agreements, as well as licensing and partnership arrangements.
Guide and support on IP policy and strategy (excluding patents).
Act as IP expert in various M&A projects, including risk assessment, due diligence, integration, and related strategy.
Serve as a central point of expertise for colleagues in adjacent legal functions globally.
Own or support relevant templates, model clauses, and guidance within the area of IP.
What you know
Qualified lawyer/legal degree with IP specialization.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in IP, preferably in a multinational environment or as external counsel to such companies with a global scope in mind.
Proven expertise in all aspects of IP, including trade secrets, patents, trademarks, copyrights, domain names and enforcement thereof.
Proven experience of handling infringement cases and implementing IP strategies on a global level and in different jurisdictions.
Proven experience of general contract law, partnerships and licensing arrangements as well as transactional legal matters, in a multinational setting.
Who you are

Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and ability to challenge status quo – for example a track-record of setting up IP strategies for IP litigation and enforcement and ways of working, including stakeholder management.
Capable of influencing and guiding in-house lawyers throughout the world.
Strong commercial understanding and mindset, with a will and ability to become a true business partner.
