  • Full time

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

As a Static Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for designing mechanical equipment, particularly complex vessels for food systems, and specifying mechanical components. You will coordinate the work of other designers on the project, ensuring the quality of drawings and maintaining design consistency. Additionally, you will ensure fabrication quality and assist with workshop inspections. A proactive approach is essential, focusing on delivering high-quality results and meeting rigorous standards. Key tasks:

  • Coordinate with the project team to develop and/or coordinate the development of drawings

  • Preparation of technical specifications, and data sheets for mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, tanks, and other process equipment

  • Ensure the required services meet Alfa Laval, customer, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget

  • Review vendor documentation and drawings

  • Review/perform strength calculation (Pressure vessels mainly, including FEA)

  • Specify mechanical components including piping, fittings, agitators, distributors, etc.

  • Secure the design and verification process for appointed equipment and secure and support the standardization of designs and products across the project.

At Alfa Laval, we embrace a hybrid work model, providing you the flexibility to work from home when it aligns with your tasks. This position is based at our Copenhagen office in Søborg, with an expected travel commitment of approximately 35 - 45 days per year.

What you know

You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and extensive experience in the design and calculation of Pressure Vessels, as well as a strong technical foundation. Your expertise includes advanced knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and proficiency in one or more leading FEA software packages. You are proactive and focused on high quality and standards of work. To succeed in this position, you must:

  • Possess experience in designing static equipment and knowledge of mechanical systems and/or pressure tank manufacturing

  • Know Pressure vessel design rules as per international standards (i.e. ASME Section VIII-Div. 1 and EN 13445)

  • Have general knowledge of industry standards and best practices including EN, ISO, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, and API among others

  • Possess highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and be able to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work to peers and customers

  • Have knowledge about welding and quality inspections, which would be an advantage

  • Possess experience within the Oil and gas industry, which would be an advantage.

Who you are

You are a proactive problem-solver with a creative flair and an analytical mindset that enables you to tackle challenges from multiple angles. Accountability is at the core of your work—you take ownership of your responsibilities and deliver results you’re proud of. As a true team player, you thrive in collaborative environments and contribute positively to group success while maintaining the self-resilience needed to navigate obstacles and adapt to changing priorities. Your combination of creativity, initiative, and analytical thinking makes you an invaluable asset to any team.
