The position / About the Job:

Plan, supervise, and manage customer and development projects in the High-Speed Separator, Decanter, and PHE Evaporator modules domain within the Circular Separation Technology (CST) business across all global markets in electrical and automation domain. Collaborate with the reporting team to ensure efficient execution.

Establish and implement a standard project execution philosophy across all project types, ensuring alignment with Alfa Laval’s project methodology. Take ownership of technical know-how within the team and drive its continuous development. Stay updated on emerging technologies and guide the team in adapting to evolving market conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering activities within the Delivery Platform for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation disciplines for products handled by BU CST and coordinate with cross disciplines in the organization.
  • Coordinate closely with the Core Automation Development team, leveraging their expertise when specialized skills are required.
  • Ensure BU CST deliverables remain aligned with the central automation development strategy and are regularly updated.
  • Design & engineering approval. Costing approvals. Engineering schedule planning & approval, compensation recommendations, training & career development approvals.
  • Employee management (including hiring & firing), motivation of local employees and practical employee administration (vacation plans, sickness, travel booking, travel rules and payments and office space).
  • Resource management including distributing project work and other tasks to employees and follow up direct line reporting. Resource forecasting.
  • Function as liaison between different stakeholders.
  • Responsible for and have the authority to make decisions, manage the project budget, and manage the allocated resources, within given time frame.
  • As an when it is demanded, manage electrical and automation engineering which include electrical drawings, calculations, hardware and software specification of electrical and control panels, instrumentation, necessary technical documentation, O&M manuals, follow-up at the sub-suppliers and hotline support for start-up of the modules.
  • Coordinate for FAT & SAT and other inspection requirements.
  • Regularly monitor the progress, resolve operational hurdles/ bottlenecks that might hamper execution of project.
  • Ensure the business is conducted in a sound manner and in accordance with internal rules.
  • Identifying non-conformances and implementing corrective actions. Implementing best practices in engineering activities. Show intent to implement standards and work processes.
  • To understand ‘CST Engineering’ specific process requirement and implement those in engineering process.
  • Interface with Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Instrumentation engineering and bridge the gaps.
  • KPI responsible for automation development KPI of the department.
  • Whenever required Attend technical review meetings with customer, consultants and external suppliers and implement the requirements in engineering activities.
  • Stay up to date with new technology and tools and be able to implement.
  • Support Supply Chain in identifying, evaluating & selecting the alternate vendors.
  • Ensure smooth handover of project closure documents to BU and E&S.
  • As a manager, stimulate people, motivate and inspire them through emotional involvement.
  • Mentoring & coaching new engineers.
  • Facilitate employee training and technical competence development programs.
  • To build a strong second line of successors and mentor them for future leadership positions.

Who Are You?

Experience & Education:

  • 12-15+years industrial Experience in Electrical, Automation  Engineering and in the domain of skid-based module’s design in energy industries
  • Graduate /Postgraduate –Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of engineering codes & standards related to electrical engineering
  • Practical experience with module engineering & design (PID, Layout) for Alfa Laval specific applications.
  • Industry Knowledge –High Speed separator modules
  • Good understanding of engineering tools. MS Office. MS Project or any other project management tool.

What You Know

You have a solid expert understanding of control systems and automation, ideally combined with experience from the process industry. Your background could be as an Electrical, Operations, or Process Engineer, or perhaps as a Marine Engineer or in a similar technical field. What matters most is that you bring strong technical insight, problem-solving skills, and the ability to apply your expert knowledge in a practical, customer-focused environment.
