Careers at Alfa Laval
Welcome to a place where innovation runs deep. For over a century, we’ve combined a vibrant startup spirit with passionate (even obsessed) engineering to build technology that pushes boundaries – and creates unimaginable careers. You see, no matter role or background, it’s your curiosity and commitment that drives progress. As we push forward, we shape a more resourceful world – and let you grow in the process.
#1 They filter with
flavour in mind
Our membranes keep the good stuff in. Aroma, colour, character? Concentrated but still there.
#2 Basically
beer whisperers
Each membrane knows what to let through and what to block. Water? Pass. Proteins, alcohol and sugars? Stay.
#3 Low temp. High pressure.
No compromises.
RO filtration runs cold under high pressure to preserve aroma, flavour and alcohol. The result? A full-flavour true brew.
#4 Cuts the volume.
Keeps the character.
RO membranes let you shrink the beer volume. Think 75% lighter without losing golden brewski quality.
Give it a try. You’ll never know where engineering can take you unless you do.
That was the encouragement I received from Dr. Chin, my final-year lecturer. At the time, I wasn’t sure I belonged in engineering. It wasn’t my first choice. I’d stumbled into it, and many of my classmates were planning to move into other fields after graduation. From our seats at university, engineering felt narrow.
But then Dr. Chin walked in. She wasn’t just teaching equations; she also shared her story: completing her degree, working in the industry, returning for a PhD. Hearing how her career had taken so many turns planted a seed in me: if she could shape such a varied path, maybe I could too.
Her words convinced me to give engineering a real chance – to stay with the craft, keep learning, and let curiosity guide me. And she was right. Just a few years into my career, it’s already taken me from Malaysia to Denmark, working on international projects I once only dreamed of. Dr. Chin showed me that engineering is a gateway to a journey that keeps unfolding.

He spoke about engines the way others speak about heroes.
That’s how I think of my uncle, an old-school marine engineer who has spent most of his life at sea. At family gatherings, he still shares stories about the places he’s seen and the engines that got him there. Big, steady machines he can name by model, year and maker. As a kid, I remember sitting there thinking “I want to see that for myself”.
That’s what pulled me in. The machines. Today, I work with burners and boilers. And I get it – the quiet pride, the satisfaction of understanding how things work, and of being part of something that helps keep the world moving towards a carbon neutral future.

Go see the world!
If it were me, I wouldn’t think twice.
That’s what my wife said when I got this job.
She’s always dreamt of exploring the world but never really had the chance. So, when the opportunity came my way, she didn’t just support it – she encouraged it. I’m away about 100 days a year, and balancing a job like that with family life takes two. When I travel, she keeps things running at home. It works thanks to her. Over time, we’ve found our rhythm, one that leaves room for career, family, and adventure.
Seeing the world has always been a dream we’ve shared, and now we get to do it together. My job gives us the flexibility to explore new places as a family. That makes this feel like our journey, not just mine.

Mechanical engineering will open far more doors for you.
That’s what Professor Todorov, the dean of my faculty, told me when I asked to switch degree programmes.
I had my heart set on studying aviation – it seemed so exciting! But my entrance exam scores weren’t quite high enough, so I started in mechanical engineering instead, planning to transfer after the first year.
I worked hard, got good grades, and finished second in my group – usually enough to make the switch. But Professor Todorov wanted to understand why I was so determined to leave, especially as I was doing well.
I told him about my fascination with aviation and my dream of working at the airport in my hometown.
He listened, then said no.
I was SO disappointed. But today, I’m grateful he did. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be doing R&D at Alfa Laval – and honestly, I think that’s what I’d be dreaming about if I’d ended up working at the airport back home.

Join us behind the scenes at Alfa Laval and experience our passion for people - and machines.
Team Lead Willie Davis is still amazed by the pumps he works with. It’s like they each have a personality of their own. That’s what true engineering is all about.
Product Manager Marcus Eldh considers his heat exchanger a unique creature and even gets a bit offended when others say it’s just a lump of metal. When it’s anything but.
Team Leader Anders Wester is especially devoted to the gasketed plates in our heat exchangers. He takes real satisfaction in seeing them work their magic.
Channel Sales HFH Caitlin Samsa isn’t your average introverted engineer. She does her best to travel around the country to get more people to like Alfa Laval – and her.
To Revos Innovation Centre Manager Justyna Szczepańska, membranes are little alchemists – turning beer into gold. Well, concentrated beer. But golden all the same: pure osmosis magic.
Professional Parts Puller Antroy Holland is picking parts like a professional grocery shopper – only with gaskets in the basket. And he knows lean is clean. Selecting the wrong gasket can slow the whole line down.
Senior Material Specialist Debasish Chakraborty sees a heat exchanger somewhat like an action hero – highly specialised, quiet and super-efficient.
Material Specialist Emina Kujundzic has really bonded with the heat exchanger over her years at Alfa Laval. Nowadays she sees it somewhat as a reformed bad boy.
