Every day at Alfa Laval we strive to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies for hygienic fluid handling that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the Job

You will join our dynamic R&D Pump team as the technical specialist shaping Alfa Laval’s entry into single-use solutions for pharma. Since this is a new area for us, your expertise will be critical in defining the right technologies, design principles, and development approach. Starting with pump and drive unit development, you will help shape a broader portfolio of single-use fluid handling products and components.

You will lead the technical journey from concept and feasibility through prototyping, verification, and validation, while ensuring performance, manufacturability, and compliance. Working across R&D, Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, and global teams, you will bring your pharma and single-use experience to the organization, challenge our thinking, and help establish the technical foundation for our future pharma offering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and develop single-use products tailored for pharmaceutical applications

  • Apply mechanical design principles of plastic components to ensure performance, manufacturability, and compliance

  • Drive design verification, pharma product validation, and continuous improvement

  • Conduct feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing

  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions

  • Interact broadly at both global and local levels, navigating in a matrix organization

What You Know

  • Engineering background with hands-on experience in plastics design

  • Experience in product development, including prototyping, testing and design verification

  • Familiarity with mechanical design principles, fluid dynamics, GMP, and single-use materials

  • Understanding of pharma requirements, validation and compliance for regulated products

  • Ability to work independently and lead technical direction in a new product area

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate across disciplines

Who You Are

You are highly self-driven and take ownership of your area, with the confidence and authority to make decisions and drive things forward independently. At the same time, you are strongly we-oriented and a true team player who thrives on collaboration across functions, business units, and geographies.

You are comfortable navigating a large, complex organization and know how to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and create momentum across boundaries. Open-minded, adaptable, and curious, you bring a collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation—while having the drive to challenge the status quo and turn your expertise into action.

What´s in it for you

This role offers the opportunity to join a world-class, dynamic team, work across diverse engineering disciplines, and enjoy the freedom to shape your own workday. You’ll be the driver of the technical single-use journey for the organization, making a real impact in pharma innovation.
