About the job 

As an Application Engineer, you will develop technical solutions for global energy projects, working closely with the Global Industry Manager to drive growth, primarily in the Petrochemical and Refinery sectors. In this position, you will translate customer needs into tailored heat exchange solutions, support the full sales process, and deliver strong technical proposals and process optimizations. Collaborating with global teams and customers, you will ensure high-impact results. You will also strengthen technical expertise within our organization, engage in long-term strategic initiatives, and represent the company in technical forums, supporting product development and business growth. 

Key responsibilities for this role entail:  

  • Quote support for our Sales Companies globally with heat exchanger design optimizations 

  • Support our Sales Companies and customers globally with product and application expertise  

  • Develop best and competitive technical solution for our customer’s process  

  • Prepare the value proposition for our sales teams  

  • Be our expert on gasketed plate heat exchanger design  

  • Increase technical competence across our global organization  

  • Support claim investigation, conclusion and closure of claims.  

  • Explore new opportunities for plate heat exchanger technology in different industries  

  • Identify and map white spots in our heat exchanger portfolio  

  • Contribute to marketing activities for hydrocarbon industries  

  • Drive selected strategic initiatives key for Alfa Laval’s future growth

This position will be based in Lund and will report to XXX. 20-30 days travels  

What you know  

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or related field)  

  • 3–5 years of experience in technical sales- or process engineering-role within the energy sector or heavy industries  

  • Experience with heat exchangers (strong advantage)  

  • Ability to understand complex industrial processes and customer requirements  

  • Experience developing technical solutions and proposals for industrial applications  

  • Experience supporting sales teams or working in a customer-facing technical role  

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
