About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role. The Field Service Technician is available for 24/7 on call field service labor, trouble shooting and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high speed separators or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance and efficiency. You will have the opportunity to perform preventive maintenance, emergency and warranty repairs. Also managing travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently, this is an Onsite opportunity located in Richmond, VA.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Possesses mechanical troubleshooting skills on Heat Exchangers, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills on Alfa Laval Separators and Decanters.
  • Advanced knowledge of Automation (PLC, HMI, VFD, etc.).
  • Can perform advanced start-up of Alfa Laval equipment (installation, mechanical assembly, control parameters, motor ID runs, etc.).
  • Starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company and customer safety procedure in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Prepares expense reports and written service reports for work performed on each job no later than two weeks of job completion.
  • Create job time and expense reports, Concur expense reports, and payroll reports as required by all field service technicians.
  • Obtains Signed Time Summary sheets from the customer upon completion of job.

What you know:

You have a 3-year college degree or 10 years Military experience, and:

  • Self-sufficient on at least 4 different Alfa Laval product lines or can perform commissioning on an Alfa Laval system (equipment, piping, controls and process).
  • Advanced mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Troubleshoot Electrical issues and/or controls.
  • Advanced automation skills.
  • Ability to upload programs for controls/automation.
  • Ability to communicate Operational and Safety parameters for Alfa Laval equipment to the customer.
  • Customer service and sales oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal & written skills.
  • Team Player and ability to work independently.
  • Basic PC utilization skills required in word, excel.
  • Ability to learn and use systems required for the administration of service and expense reports.
  • Perform jobs in line with OHSA requirements.
  • Complete established safety training programs.
