Who you are:

We are looking for Mechanical Engineer for R&D to our Qingdao Marine site of Business Unit Heat & Gas systems (BU HGS). As a Mechanical Engineer, you are working in our R&D organization, and you are part of Mechanical team in Product Development & Maintenance department.

To succeed in this position, you have engineer background and experience from R&D engineering, mechanical engineering, marine engineering or production. Our Mechanical Engineer is analyzing and executing mechanical design as part of continuous improvement- and product development-activities. You work closely with European and Asian teams and support in challenges caused by time zone, language or other reasons. You have good organizing, co-ordination and communication skills. We appreciate experience from boilers and pressure vessels. You are cooperative and able to communicate in fluent English.

What you will know:

  • Your educational background (M.Sc./B.Sc.) from technical side
  • Few years’ experiences from R&D engineering, R&D responsibilities, mechanical engineering, marine engineering or production
  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly with the design team.
  • Experience in executing steel structure strength- and stability calculations.
  • Experience in FEM analysis (Ansys Mechanical).
  • Strong communication skills to ensure clear translation of design intent to operational teams.
  • Knowledge about the design principle and requirements for boiler pressure part is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge about marine classification societies is preferred but not a requirement.
  • You have an analytical mindset, and you are active, systematic and structured in your work.
  • You are open, communicative, and you have a cross-cultural understanding
  • You are flexible and positive to changes
  • You drive for results and improvement
  • Good English skill both oral and written.

What's the job:

  • Root cause- and impact analysis for manufacturing issues related to existing and new products.
  • Drive design optimization based on root cause-analysis as part of change management process
  • Support and lead manufacturing of 0-series and prototypes to ensure progress.
  • Perform steel structure strength- and stability calculations and FEM analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with the design-team to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Support development projects by providing mechanical feedback based on manufacturing capabilities at factory.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives through the engineering change process.
  • Communicate effectively with the operations team to align design and manufacturing processes. Develop collaboration between design- and operational teams
  • Address inconsistencies in design coming from head office(s) acting as filter between design- and operational-teams.
  • Review production drawing, drive discussion with manufacturing-team to improve developing efficiency.
  • Develop and optimize existing product portfolio.
