Alfa Laval UK&I are looking for a Project Engineer

At Alfa Laval, we always go that extra mile to overcome the toughest challenges. Our driving force is to accelerate success for our customers, people and planet. You can only achieve that by having dedicated people with a curious mind. Curiosity is the spark behind great ideas. And great ideas drive progress.

As a member of our team, you thrive in a truly diverse and inclusive workplace based on care and empowerment. You are here to make a difference. Constantly building bridges to the future with sustainable solutions that have an impact on our planet’s most urgent problems. Making the world a better place. Every day.

About the Job

The role will be based at our offices in Keele University where we have recently established a modern work setting to support the execution of our projects. The job is predominantly office based where the expectation is to work most of your time, with an existing team. Some travel will be expected for site visits and meetings where necessary.

You will handle multiple customer projects with varied engineering requirements and deliverables and see these through from order booking to customer handover. You will also provide support and advise our sales teams during the bid phase to ensure the customer's specifications and technical constraints are adhered to, while ensuring Alfa Laval is positioned to provide them.

The projects will be of varied value and complexity but will all revolve around Alfa Laval core equipment (decanter centrifuges, belt presses, belt thickeners, drum thickeners).

The project engineer will ensure that Alfa Laval’s customer commitments are delivered in line with commercial and time constraints. You will be responsible for moving the projects from kick-off through the design - manufacture -installation - commissioning phases. Engaging with internal functions along the way to ensure purchasing and invoicing processes are met.

It will be the project engineer´s responsibility to understand and manage time and resources so that projects are delivered on time, on spec and on budget. You will have a support resource available to contribute to the overall delivery and will be responsible for the delegation of these work tasks.

The project engineer is responsible commercially for the project and will need to ensure accurate commercial records are kept and to provide robust justification for deviations and changes – both internally and externally.

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced project engineer who has worked within a similar role to join a multi-disciplined engineering department.

You are autonomous and agile, self-reliant in prioritising, initiating and completing multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. You have a customer-focused approach to projects with an appreciation of time, cost and resources.

You are able to network and form internal relationships to ensure customer query fulfilment. You are able to delegate and prioritise tasks to support members in completing activities in line with customer expectations.

You are confident when facing customers and other stakeholders and have the ability to commercially manage multiple projects and provide concise updates to peers and management. You have fantastic communication skills. You are structured, organised and have the ability to self motivate, use initiative and drive tasks through to completion.

What you know

You have an appreciation of engineering fundamentals.

You must be experienced in project delivery with a proven track record.

You have technical qualifications and/or have served significant time in engineering related roles.

A background with some of Alfa Laval’s products would be desirable – particularly in separation, dewatering or thickening.

An appreciation and good understanding of Windows and Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. Experience with SharePoint is also preferable.

Experience operating in an NEC project environment.

You have an appreciation of policy and procedures.

You have a full driving license.

Why work for us

Alfa Laval UK&I currently provide a wide range of benefits, schemes, and initiatives for our employees including:

  • Holiday entitlement of 25 days + Bank holidays
  • Simply Health – Health cash plan available to enter worth over £2500 annually
  • Life Assurance – 4X annual salary when you remain in the pension
  • Training and Career Development potential

Assessment practicalities

We care about diversity, inclusion, and equity in our recruitment processes. We also believe behavioral traits can provide important insights into a candidate's fit to a role. To help us achieve this we apply Pymetrics assessments, and upon application you will be invited to play the assessment games.

For More Information please contact:

Tanja Sukaj, Talent Acquisition Partner, tanja.sukaj@alfalaval.com

This role will remain open until a suitable candidate has been selected.
