About the job

As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role within the hygienic fluid handling team at Alfa Laval. You will have the opportunity to work with machining components of pumps and valves made from stainless steel. You will also have the opportunity to work a CNC machine, lathe, and horizontal and vertical milling machines to machine components, contributing to the overall success and growth of our organization. Currently this is an on-site day shift (6:00am – 2:30pm, over time as needed) located at our Indianapolis, IN facility.

As a part of the team, you will:

  • Select equipment and tooling and operate machines in accordance with standard specifications.
  • Read and interpret schedules, blueprints, and bill of materials, set up equipment and machine components per applicable standards.
  • Perform quality checks using various measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc. and continuously inspect materials and production to ensure product is in conformance.
  • Identify and communicate any non-conforming products per SOP or applicable process.
  • Record data on quality documentation, components, and product per company standards and/or customer requirements.
  • Participate in the team’s continuous improvement and development in accordance with the Alfa Laval Production System (ALPS). Examples include 5S, Problem resolution process (PRP), and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
  • Cross train to support any and all departments or factory demands as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and cleanliness of work area.

Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using lifts

What you know:

You have high school diploma or GED and:

  • Ability to read drawings and use measurement equipment
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting blueprints, bill of materials, specifications, schedules
  • Ability to use various measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges
  • Basic computer skills
  • Can lift up to 60 pounds
  • 2 years of working with stainless steel materials is preferred
  • 2 years of operating a CNC maching, lathe, and horizontal and vertical milling machines is preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
