Lead the Health, Safety, Environment, and Occupational Health strategy for Hispanic America, ensuring multi-standard legal compliance, developing a culture of prevention and collective responsibility, and effectively managing risks in operations, projects, services, and business processes, in line with Alfa Laval Global's QHSE strategy. This is primarily a strategic position, which will be implemented through collaborative work with local Health & Safety and Occupational Health providers.

The Health, Safety & Environment Officer is a member of the Hispanic America Regional Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Culture, Leadership and Prevention

  • Design and lead awareness programs (campaigns, behavioral observations/BBS, visible leadership).

  • Promote a culture of compliance, self-care, and individual/collective accountability.

  • Develop communication materials and tools to reinforce safe practices across all countries.

2. Integrated QHSE Management System

  • Develop and implement policies, strategies, SOPs, and procedures in Safety, Environmental and Occupational Health.

  • Manage management systems (ISO 45001, ISO 14001; ISO 9001 when applicable).

  • Coordinate internal, external, and customer audits.

  • Define and monitor regional KPIs (TRIFR, LTIFR, near misses, environmental incidents, health indicators).

3. Risk Management

  • Design processes, resources, and tools for risk assessments related to equipment, processes, products, and field activities.

  • Define corrective actions derived from environmental assessments, waste, emissions, discharges, and mitigation plans.

  • Ensure a standard for critical controls for high-risk work (PTW, LOTO, working at heights, confined spaces, lifting operations, hot work).

4. Occupational Health (OH)

  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements in each country.

  • Implement epidemiological surveillance and ergonomics programs.

  • Lead investigations related to occupational diseases.

  • Work closely with insurers / workers’ compensation entities (ARL, ART, ACHS, IST, etc.), depending on the country.

5. Multi-Standard Compliance and External Stakeholder Management

  • Manage the regional legal compliance matrix (Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina).

  • Prepare documentation and support governmental inspections (STPS, SUNAFIL, MITRADEL, SRT, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements from industrialized customers.

6. Business Support and Operational Teams

  • Provide HSE support to field service, operations, and project teams in the application of policies and procedures.

  • Manage contractors: prequalification, audits, performance monitoring, and critical controls.

  • Participate in commercial proposals involving HSE requirements.

7. Incident Investigation

  • Lead incident investigations using formal methodologies.

  • Ensure implementation of corrective actions and management of lessons learned.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Lead regional HSE continuous improvement projects aligned with the corporate roadmap.

  • Implement analysis and reporting tools (Power BI desirable).

  • Integrate continuous improvement, lean practices, and process standardization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, Environmental or related fields.

  • Valid license to practice Occupational Safety and Health according to local legislation.

  • 10+ years of experience in HSE/OH, with operations across multiple countries and high-risk environments.

  • Experience in field service, contractor management, and critical controls.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems; Lead Auditor certification is a plus.

  • Advanced English level (C1).

  • Willingness to travel across Hispanic America (up to 50%).
