About the job
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join our team and assist in developing a comprehensive solution for global cost estimation. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cost estimation processes, data analytics, and project management within the Oils and Fats Industry. The student will work closely with the Industry and Engineering Manager and other key stakeholders to streamline and enhance our cost estimation practices. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the chance to collaborate with offices across the world, gaining exposure to different cultures and working environments. It is expected that the project will take 2-3 months in its first phase.
What you’ll be doing:
Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data from various sites to understand current cost estimation processes, including estimation vs. calculation methods, component groups, decision criteria, and time spent on costing.
Process Mapping: Create detailed flowcharts illustrating the cost estimation process, highlighting which databases and tools are utilized at each step.
Database Management: Design and create database structures, prepare them for global roll-out, and ensure data is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
Tool Development: Collaborate with the team to develop and implement new tools and functionalities for global cost estimation, such as evaluation or score tools, automated equipment sizing sheets, and cost databases.
Dashboard and Analytical Tools: Develop dashboards (using Power BI) and analytical tools to assess and visualize cost estimation data.
Hours Forecast Tools: Develop tools to forecast engineering hours, project management hours, and other relevant metrics.
Contingency Determination: Support the development of standardized guidelines and tools for determining contingency levels in cost estimates.
Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation of the new cost estimation processes and tools, including user guides and training materials.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with site-specific cost estimation teams to gather input, identify commonalities and differences, and address any gaps in the current processes.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices for global cost estimation.
