Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.
As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.
Discover this opportunity to work as an International Service Engineer at Alfa Laval. You enjoy an adventurous job where no day is the same, you visit multiple locations (mostly in the Benelux), and technology is your passion.
What you will do
You will work in a dynamic environment, meaning your schedule can look different every day. In maritime terms, you will carry out most service tasks in the ARA region: the ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp.
Some of your responsibilities:
Work on board ships with Alfa Laval ballast water treatment systems.
Independently handle the commissioning of systems on both new and existing ships.
Perform scheduled maintenance on operational systems.
Troubleshoot and optimize operational systems.
Conduct maintenance on the equipment.
Within our International Marine Service (IMS) team, you will work in a diverse and inclusive environment where we support and help each other. You are here to make a difference, continually building bridges to the future with sustainable solutions that impact the most urgent problems facing our planet.
What we offer
We offer a challenging position within an open and international environment, where we collaborate to promote personal and collective growth and create value.
A fixed salary based on your work experience plus a 13th-month salary
A laptop and mobile phone
A company car (which you can drive private)
Good working conditions: we ensure you have what you need to perform your job well and safely.
Lots of opportunities to attend courses/training
Various festivities and activities. Think of celebrating a healthy week, where you can participate in all kinds of healthy and sporty activities, or a large company party with music, where we ensure everyone gets home safely or has a place to stay. Always different, but always fun, safe, and well-organized.
What we ask
You exude technical expertise, are solution-oriented with strong customer focus, and capable of making quick yet well-considered difficult decisions to meet customer needs. You thrive on working on urgent and sometimes complex issues.
Requirements:
You have a technical background, such as electromechanics or maritime officer.
You have relevant work experience in field service engineering or have worked on board ships.
Excellent (fluent) communication skills in English.
Ideally, you reside between Amsterdam and Antwerp.
You are flexible due to the dynamic nature of the maritime world. You don't have a 9-to-5 mentality and are reasonably available on weekends and holidays upon agreement.
