About the job
As our new Manager of Business Development, you will both lead and actively contribute as a member of a dedicated team of five, including yourself. Your primary responsibility is to identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities for our new products and services within the Business Unit Heat & Gas Systems. You will report directly to the Vice President, Head of Global Sales and Business Development, while working closely with colleagues in Research & Development, Product Management, and Global Sales.
A key part of your role is to stay ahead of market trends and industry developments, ensuring the organization responds strategically to new opportunities. These opportunities will primarily be within the marine industry and may involve in-house technology development, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), and strategic partnerships.
Your key responsibilities include:
Leading the Business Development team while contributing hands-on to daily activities.
Driving Innovation Program, which is based on Idea Generation, Concept Development, Technology Scouting and M&A.
Managing the Innovation funnel - Identification and qualification of new business opportunities based on market requests/demands and, or technology scouting.
Defining and developing business plans, including organizational requirements, to expand the New Business area for BU Heat & Gas Systems.
Engaging with key prospects, technology providers and customers through meetings.
Executing long-term strategic targets and initiatives.
Driving the development of new concepts and systems for New Business.
Establishing agreements with strategic partners and/or launching customers.
About you
You are a highly self-driven and self-motivating professional with a strong commercial drive and a willingness to explore new approaches. Your ability to work with multiple stakeholders, supported by exceptional communication, networking, and interpersonal skills. Customer and industry understanding comes naturally to you, and building and maintaining strong business relationships with colleagues, partners, and customers is second nature.
You consistently go the extra mile to accelerate the success of those you work with, striving to exceed expectations in everything you do. You are comfortable navigating politically sensitive environments and thrive in cross-functional teams, demonstrating cooperation and a commitment to achieving defined goals on time. Your combination of commercial acumen, relationship-building skills, and drive to exceed expectations makes you a valuable asset in any dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in engineering is required: additional business education or experience is highly desirable.
Demonstrated management experience.
3 – 5 years of proven B2B experience, preferably in the marine industry, with expertise in international technical sales, business development, and complex contract negotiations.
This position requires approximately 30 – 40 days of travel per year to support international business activities.
As part of a global organization, speaking and writing English is a prerequisite.
