The Project Manager will own and drive the end-to-end execution of large-scale engineering and process project orders secured from Strategic Key Accounts and Big EPC firms across India. This critical role bridges the gap between sales closure and final delivery, managing project opportunities from the initial Request for Quotation (RFQ) evaluation phase, through engineering and manufacturing, up to final site execution and contract payment collection. Utilizing rigorous PMP methodologies, the incumbent will ensure that complex, high-value projects are delivered on time, within scope, safely, and at target profitability margins while securing organizational cash flow.
Apply global PMP standards to define project charters, execute risk management plans, and track milestones for large-scale energy and process industry orders.
Own the project lifecycle continuously across four distinct phases:
Phase 1: RFQ & Bidding: Partner with the sales and technical backend teams to evaluate complex tender terms, analyze project risks, review commercial clauses, and optimize estimation inputs.
Phase 2: Order Engineering & S&OP Planning: Coordinate between the customer, divisional business units, and factories to finalize design specifications, freeze drawings, and align production slots.
Phase 3: Execution & Delivery: Monitor manufacturing progress, manage change-order requests, coordinate inspections (FAT/SAT), and oversee logistics to ensure timely on-site delivery.
Phase 4: Financial Closure: Proactively manage project billing milestones, documentation submission, and contract execution to ensure successful final payment collection and outstanding retention release.
Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for senior project directors and engineering heads at Tier-1 EPC firms and key asset owners during order execution.
Lead regular project progress review meetings, manage conflict resolution, and manage client expectations regarding variations, timelines, and deliverables.
Maintain a proactive project risk register, identifying potential bottlenecks in manufacturing, supply chain, or engineering dependencies before they impact delivery timelines.
Rigorously monitor project cash flows, track invoicing milestones against actual progress, and resolve any commercial or documentation disputes that delay revenue realization.
Inter-Departmental Collaboration :
Lead cross-functional coordination aligning local sales teams, factory operations, procurement, and backend application engineers to maintain project velocity.
Feed real-time project updates into the factory S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) loop to balance shop-floor capacities with delivery mandates.
Financial & Collection Discipline: Strong commercial focus, treating final payment collection and cash-flow management as core project success metrics.
Matrix Influence: Exceptional ability to drive execution across diverse teams (factories, engineering, clients) without direct line authority.
Structured Execution: Highly organized mindset capable of breaking down highly complex, multi-year engineering projects into trackable, actionable milestones.
Certification: Mandatory active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Instrumentation).
Experience: 8 to 12 years of core project management experience handling high-value industrial project execution (contracts worth 1m+ Euro) in the Energy, Oil & Gas, Power, or heavy process sectors in India.
Contractual Knowledge: Deep understanding of complex EPC contract conditions, liquidated damages (LD) clauses, bank guarantees (BG/PBG), and commercial documentation requirements in India.
We offer you an interesting and challenging position in an open and friendly environment where we help each other to develop and create value for our customers.
Exciting place to build a global network with different nationalities.
Your work will have a true impact on Alfa Laval’s future success, you will be learning new things every day.
"We care about diversity, inclusion and equity in our recruitment processes. We also believe behavioural traits can provide important insights into a candidate's fit to a role.
