The Shipping Coordinator is focused on managing inbound and outbound shipments from the Richmond production facility. Coordinate with end customers to arrange shipments of finished goods. Coordinate with the Logistics Control Tower (LCT) to arrange flatbed shipments. Screen shipments for accurate information and take appropriate action when required. Handle documentation related to shipping. Monitor incoming shipments and schedule delivery appointments. Execute standard work according to ALPS standard and participate in continuous improvements.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

  • Monitor and execute outbound shipping schedule
  • Manage and coordinate outbound shipments
  • Review inbound shipping documentation and work with carriers to schedule delivery appointments
  • Handle shipping documents (international shipment paperwork, Bill of Lading, customs invoices, etc.)
  • Communicate and work with production, order planning, sales, customer service, and end customers
  • Actively participate in daily/weekly status meetings
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Audit processes to ensure standards are followed and identify any improvements that can be made
  • Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives/projects
  • Other duties as assigned

ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS (level of functional responsibility, relationships, level of direction received, and ability to initiate work):

  • Reports to Logistics Team Manager Alfa Laval Inc
  • Must be able to work in a self-managed environment and able to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be confident and capable of developing and maintaining effective relationships with Customers, Operations, and Sales to achieve goals
