Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the role

As an R&D Engineer with a primary focus on product maintenance, you will be the technical owner of engineering changes that keep our existing product portfolio performing at its best. Working at the heart of our engineering organization, you will drive mechanical and system design changes end-to-end — from initial assessment through implementation and documentation — while also contributing to exciting new development projects in marine energy systems.

You thrive working across functions, take ownership of technical decisions, and are energized by the challenge of improving complex systems in a collaborative environment.

What you do

Primary focus — product maintenance & engineering changes

  • Drive the technical part of engineering changes related to mechanical and system design, maintaining and improving the existing product portfolio to ensure optimal performance and support organizational success
  • Select the right components — including writing specifications and conducting technical evaluation of supplier proposals
  • Assess and own how changes impact surrounding systems, taking full accountability for the change from initiation through to close-out
  • Create Technical Solution Descriptions documenting the impact of changes across diagrams, models, and technical documentation
  • Implement changes spanning P&IDs, component changes, process changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, working closely with colleagues to evaluate and implement changes effectively

You will also get the opportunity to

  • Design and develop marine systems and components, including burners, boilers, heat exchangers, and future fuel systems
  • Participate in and conduct research and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA, DFMEA), document findings, and deliver reports that guide key decisions
  • Develop detailed design documents for both individual parts and complete products, ensuring quality and manufacturability
  • Support internal R&D projects with continuous improvement, i.e. of, contributing to the successful realization of new marine energy solutions

About you

You're curious, ambitious, and passionate about innovation. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to grow your skills while making a difference.

Must have

  • Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar technical discipline
  • Experience in a similar role involving design and development of systems and component selection
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive with tasks related to changes in existing systems and products — including component changes, optimization, quality assurance, and operational philosophies
  • Natural ownership mindset — able to take technical decisions independently and see them through
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Structured approach to work with solid coordination skills
  • Experience with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar

Highly valued / nice to have

  • Experience with burners, boilers, heat exchangers, scrubbers, or similar marine/industrial systems
  • Familiarity with PLM software — Autodesk Vault and/or Siemens Teamcenter is a distinct advantage
  • Exposure to risk assessment methodologies: HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA, DFMEA
