R&D and Product Development Manager – Sonihull in Abu Dhabi

NRG Marine Limited (Sonihull), a member of the Alfa Laval group, is a global leader in ultrasonic antifouling and agitation systems. Our award-winning Sonihull technology is already in service on over 3,800 vessels worldwide, and our expanding product line—including the latest Agitate system—extends ultrasonic technology into onshore industrial markets such as steel, dairy, and energy sectors.

With growing market adoption and the backing of Alfa Laval’s global engineering network, we are now seeking an experienced Product Development & R&D Manager to lead innovation, product design, and technical integration across both legacy and emerging product lines. This role is based in Abu Dhabi and includes occasional international travel to customer sites and Alfa Laval global engineering hubs.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of our ultrasonic product portfolio, including antifouling and agitation systems, from concept to delivery.
• Own and drive the product and systems roadmap, ensuring alignment with market needs, regulatory trends, and Alfa Laval’s integration strategy.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between NRG Marine and Alfa Laval engineering teams, facilitating compatibility, shared innovation, and cross-product synergies.
• Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team, overseeing project planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines.
• Use market intelligence, customer feedback, and industry research to inform R&D focus and future product evolution.
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, fostering collaboration across global teams.

What We Are Looking For:
 

You have a degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, with at least 5 years’ experience leading product development and R&D teams in relevant industrial sectors—preferably maritime, oil & gas, or heavy industry. Experience with ultrasonic or electrical systems is a strong advantage.

You combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and you thrive in dynamic, fast-growing environments. You have excellent stakeholder management skills, and you communicate clearly across technical and commercial functions. Excellent written and verbal communication in English is required.
