About the job
As a Lead Product Designer, you will drive complex, high-impact design initiatives from discovery to delivery, within IoT and automation projects. You are a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a collaborative partner who champions user needs while aligning with business objectives. In this role, you'll mentor others, influence our design culture, and play a key part in shaping both the user experience and our design practices.
You’ll have the opportunity to blend visionary thinking with hands-on design leadership, working closely with the Design Manager to define and execute the design strategy for our department. Together, you’ll establish the processes needed to realize our vision: to create a world-class, intuitive user experience for Alfa Laval products, driven by continuous user feedback and insights.
This role will be located in Søborg, Denmark with 10-20 anticipated travel days.
Key Responsibilities:
Owns and leads the design process end-to-end for IoT and automation products - from concept through final implementation.
Involve end users early and often to understand their needs, validate assumptions, and improve usability.
Drive the user-centered development of our Design System, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, product managers, and engineers to embed UX principles in the product development process.
Drive strategic design initiatives with measurable impact.
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs that ensure intuitive and seamless user experiences.
Continuously gather and integrate user feedback to refine designs through iterative testing and validation.
Stay up to date with trends and emerging technologies relevant to IoT, automation, and user experience design.
Execute and guide core UX activities including user analysis, benchmarking, usability testing, function and task analysis, and design verification.
Provide design leadership on projects - setting direction, facilitating workshops, and aligning stakeholders.
Mentor and support junior designers, offering guidance, feedback, and skill development.
Your skills and what you know
You have a bachelor´s or master´s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field combined with 7+ years of experience in product design
Advanced proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe CC, Axure)
Experience in industrial grade products and platforms
Previous leadership experience in similar roles (because you will elevate the role of design across the organization (AD & across AL BUs)
Deep understanding of UX strategy, interaction design, usability testing, and accessibility standards
Fluency in English both written and spoken are required; fluency in any other Nordic languages is an advantage
Familiarity with IoT/automation contexts, including technical constraints and opportunities

You have a proven ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals. You are comfortable leading through ambiguity and shaping product direction through design.
