Senior Mechanical Project Engineer – Oils & Fats

  • Søborg
  • Full time

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

As our new Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for executing mechanical engineering packages—such as pumps, piping systems and other process equipment—for medium- to high-complexity projects. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements and developing technical solutions to supporting procurement, supplier manufacturing and project delivery.

You will join the Technical team within the EMASA hub in Process Engineering Solutions (PES), supporting Alfa Laval’s technologies for the Oils & Fats industry. These include heat transfer, separation and fluid handling solutions for edible-oil refining, oil and fat modification, biodiesel and HVO pretreatment. In addition to project execution, you will support the business unit and portfolio by contributing to new technologies and solutions, including those connected to the wider Oils & Fats offering and the development of the solids area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute mechanical engineering packages for medium- to high-complexity projects in the Oils & Fats industry.
  • Design mechanical components, systems and plant solutions based on customer requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare technical specifications, calculations, verifications and other project documentation.
  • Select and design mechanical products and solutions based on customer requirements and applicable standards and codes.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings and technical verifications.
  • Work closely with Procurement and suppliers to define requirements, align technical solutions and follow up during manufacturing and documentation.

Who are you

You are a proactive and accountable engineer who takes ownership of your work and follows through on agreements, procedures and deadlines. You do not wait to be told what to do; instead, you identify what needs attention, take action and communicate clearly when priorities or conditions change. You are someone who builds trust through professional, diplomatic and practical communication, even when handling difficult or challenging interactions. You are comfortable working across cultures, enjoy solving technical problems and are willing to go the extra mile to deliver reliable solutions.

What you know

To succeed in this role, you have a strong mechanical engineering foundation combined with practical experience from complex project environments. Overall, we believe our ideal candidate has:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline.
  • More than five years of practical experience in mechanical engineering and design work within projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering codes and standards, particularly European and American standards.
  • Knowledge of piping stress calculations.
  • Experience working in international and cross-cultural environments.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working with suppliers and supporting technical follow-up during manufacturing and documentation.
  • Experience in process industries, process equipment or the Oils & Fats industry
  • Experience supporting product portfolios, technology development or technical improvement initiatives
