About the job

Reporting to the Sustainability Business Development team, the Sustainability Business Development Intern will play a key role in advancing our sustainability business development initiatives by conducting research, creating technical content, and engaging with cross-functional teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in sustainability solutions and contribute to our mission of helping customers achieve their sustainability goals. 

This role is based in Richmond, VA.

As part of the team, you will: 

  • Conduct research to understand the sustainability needs and priorities of our customer base.

  • Develop technical sustainability-based content that effectively communicates our sustainability story and product value.

  • Support ad hoc projects across the team, contributing insights, analysis, and problem‑solving.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure all content aligns with brand standards and messaging.

  • Work closely with Business Unit Directors and their teams on a variety of sustainability focused business initiatives.

What you know: 

You are a rising college senior pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, with a strong interest in sustainability driven by advanced process technology, and you bring:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Basic technical understanding of heat transfer, separations, and fluid‑handling equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A curious, proactive mindset with a desire to learn and take on new challenges.

  • A positive, customer‑focused attitude and comfort engaging with people across the organization.

What’s in it for you?

At Alfa Laval, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The hourly rate for this role is $22 to $27 USD per hour.
